Caritas Altenwohn- und Pflegegesellschaft mbH (CAP)

The aim of Caritas Altenwohn- und Pflegegesellschaft mbH (CAP) is to improve the quality of life of older people in the neighborhood - with services that are close to their needs and support them in their everyday lives.

Caritas has many years of experience in this area: In Wiesbaden, the Rheingau and the Taunus, it operates ten care facilities as well as apartments suitable for the elderly and offers outpatient care, domestic help and meals on wheels - including in Schelmengraben. It is now expanding this commitment and contributing its many years of experience to neighborhood work.

As a non-statutory welfare organization, Caritas shares responsibility for shaping a socially just society in its areas of activity. They are committed to safeguarding social rights and are advocates and partners for disadvantaged people, promoters of self-help and participation, providers of social services and founders of solidarity. We cooperate with other non-statutory welfare organizations to shape the common good and support people in need.

Together with GWH , Caritas is creating new meeting spaces for senior citizens - for example in the neighborhood meeting point of the senior citizens' housing complex in August-Bebel-Straße. Counseling services and open coffee rounds take place here twice a week. People come to exchange ideas, play games or simply enjoy each other's company. For older residents in particular, the meeting place has become a fixed anchor point in everyday life.

From 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. there is advice on life in old age. People can discuss any issues that concern them there. If Caritas itself is unable to help, it will put people in touch with other contacts, either from the neighborhood or via the GWH network.

This will be followed by coffee and cake from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Senior citizens will continue to find all the books and games they are used to in the Quartierstreff.
